Major Responsibilities:
- Helps integrate industrial hygiene requirements into project planning, design, construction, and operations.
- Interprets requirements and provides technical assistance within ES&H teams and to other project groups regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, industrial hygiene requirements, and ES&H program execution.
- Researches issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
- Provides technical guidance for industrial hygiene studies, risk and hazard assessments, and other safety and health reviews.
- Assists in the development and implementation of routine industrial hygiene activities inclusive of the project Safety and Health Management Plan and associated industrial hygiene plans, procedures, methods, and training.
- Participates in emergency response and aids the investigation and resolution of health-related incidents.
- Helps identify stakeholders and resolve their concerns.
- Provides industrial hygiene input to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Subcontracts, Operations, and other project groups to make sure that requirements are properly integrated within project planning, design, construction plans, and subcontracts.
- Participates in meetings, as required, with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of industrial hygiene requirements that may affect their work.
- Conducts inspections, sampling, and monitoring to help evaluate ES&H performance, identify the need for corrective actions, and confirm compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and company ES&H requirements.
- Helps track ES&H performance and trends, prepares reports, and enters data in the Industrial Hygiene Records System (IHRS).
- Provides support for ES&H team members and tasks, inclusive of all three ES&H disciplines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a Master of Science degree (or equivalent) related to industrial hygiene or equivalent recognized degree in a specialized scientific field (e.g., occupational safety and health, public health, chemistry, biology, applied science) and 6+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) related to industrial hygiene and 8+ years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Communicates well with diverse stakeholders and has technical writing and analytical skills.
- Demonstrates understanding of ES&H Management Systems.
- Able to integrate environmental, safety, and health factors for program execution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and report preparation.
- Analytical skills related to environmental sampling and monitoring.
- Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under project site and weather conditions.
- Ability to support various work shifts, as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certified Industrial Hygiene (or equivalent Certified Safety Professional) through a recognized accrediting organization licensing through appropriate regulatory authorities, where required sufficient number of courses in industrial hygiene broad, progressive work experience including senior supervisory experience in industrial hygiene.
