Position Summary:
The Construction Safety Associate is responsible for supporting and enforcing Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs on heavy commercial and industrial construction projects. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and client requirements while promoting a proactive safety culture in high-risk work environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor daily job site activities to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments for high-risk construction activities.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and permits.
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for field personnel.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including reports, logs, and compliance records.
  • Support emergency response planning and coordination on-site.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with safety objectives.
  • Promote a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement across all levels of the project team.
Qualifications:
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
  • OSHA 510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction) required.
  • 5–10+ years of dedicated safety experience in heavy commercial and/or industrial construction environments.
  • Proven experience working in high-risk construction activities (e.g., fall protection, confined space, crane operations, electrical safety, excavation, etc.).
  • Demonstrated supervisory and/or managerial experience in safety-related roles required.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in fast-paced, dynamic construction environments.
  • Proficiency in safety reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal secondary education in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as BCSP credentials (CHST, OHST, ASP, GSP) or higher preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction projects or multi-site operations.
